A caravan of volunteer firefighters from Grant, Venango, Madrid, Elsie, Imperial and Lamar left Grant at 4:30 p.m. and returned around 12:30 a.m. Sunday morning. Equipment provided by Perkins and Chase County departments included a tanker and command vehicle from Grant, tanker and grass rig from Elsie, a water tender from Madrid, tanker from Venango, a command vehicle and tanker from Imperial and a grass rig from Lamar. The departments joined 22 other departments in the effort. Extremely hot, dry conditions have created high fire danger all across the state.
