Come take part in a band/chorus for the county’s 125th
Get out your old musical instrument and start tuning it up, because the 125th anniversary celebration of Perkins County will include a county band and choir.
Sheila Johnson and Judy Kurkowski, the Perkins County Schools band and chorus teachers, have volunteered to direct the groups that will perform on the afternoon of Saturday, July 28, during the Perkins County Fair.
The choir will also have the opportunity to sing at the community church service to be held Sunday, July 22, in the Grant City Park.
Practice for the band will start on Thursday, June 28, starting at 7 p.m. Participants will meet each consecutive Thursday night in the band and choir room at the Perkins County High School in Grant.
Sheila Johnson has requested you phone her at 308-289-2771 and tell her what instrument you play so that she’ll have the correct music available. However, if you don’t get a chance to seak with her, that’s okay.—just show up and contribute your talent to the group.
Junior high ages through adult are encouraged to participate.
Choir practices will start on Tuesday, June 26, at 7 p.m. They will meet each consecutive Tuesday and Friday evening in the band and choir room at the Perkins County High School in Grant.
Judy Kurkowski will direct the choir, and Doni Holaway will accompany the group. Those who would like to participate can just come to the first practice, no need to call.
