Dr. Marvin Swan to serve on board of directors PDF Print E-mail

The 17th convention of the Nebraska District of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod was held recently.
The 343 voting delegates, a pastor and lay person from congregations in the Nebraska district were joined by 117 advisory delegates and 86 guests and staff members, totaling 546 attending the triennial convention at the Concordia University campus.
The convention opened with a worship service with communion at St. John Lutheran Church with the Rev. Dr. John Wohlrabe, second vice president of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod delivering the sermon.
Rev. Rick Marrs, professor at Concordia Seminary, led keynote presentations during the convention.
Rev. Russell Sommerfeld of Seward was elected to his fourth term as president of the district. This will be his last term due to term limits.
Other elected officers include Rev. Richard Snow, pastor of St. John in Battle Creek, first vice president; Rev. James DeLoach, pastor at Zion in Kearney, second vice president; Rev. Scott Porath, pastor of Immanuel in Eagle, third vice president.
Elected to the board of directors were Darla Rosendahl of Omaha; Dr. Marvin Swan of Grant; James Kovac of Utica; Kent Warneke of Norfolk and Kathy Brashear of Omaha.
The Nebraska District of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod has its headquarters in Seward, with over 111,000 baptized members in 251 congregations.
