Running unopposed, Sid Colson of Elsie advances to the November General Election to retain his seat for a second four-year term as Perkins County Commissioner in District 1.
Colson was elected in 2008. His main interest at that time was maintenance of the county’s roads—he has the same passion, along with other issues he has addressed as commissioner the past four years.
Colson has been a proponent of the paving project to finish the stretch of road between Elsie and Paxton that is heavily traveled by truckers hauling grain.
Retired from farming, Colson is a crop adjuster and has a real estate license as an affiliate with Colson Agency.
He has experience in working with budgets and has the time to devote to serving as Perkins County Commissioner.
Colson has an accounting degree from the University of Northern Colorado where he worked for a CPA firm for several years before returning to the family farm south of Elsie. He served on the Wheatland Board of Education for several years as treasurer working with the school’s budget.
