Heritage Nebraska searching for Hidden Treasures PDF Print E-mail

Heritage Nebraska launched a statewide search for Nebraska’s most outstanding hidden treasures, fading places and destination places.
What Judges are Seeking
For hidden treasures, the selection panel is looking for special places which don’t receive much recognition, but are worthy of seeking out. The hidden treasures span a wide
spectrum, including historic architecture, unusual landscapes and dynamic downtowns. They are special places, but more people need to know about them.
Fading places are a different story. They are places faced with continued neglect or demolition that deserve a second chance; a shot at being saved through creative re-use.
Destination places are a new category this year. They are museums and historic sites which tell the story of Nebraska history. What judges want to know is how the museum or historic site makes the facility attractive to tourists.
