Wallace students’ Project 1,000 meets goal PDF Print E-mail

Early in the school year, fifth grade students from Wallace Elementary wanted to do a service project based on their Power of 10 class bulletin board.
The Power of 10 is simply doing something with that extra 10 percent  effort. They came up with the idea of donating books to children in need.
At semester break, 100 books were delivered to the Lincoln Connection Homeless Shelter; 100 books were shared with the Rape and Domestic Abuse Shelter; and 300 books were delivered to the Salvation Army for their after school program.
All of these places are located in North Platte and the students feel it is pretty awesome to know that not just one place or just one group of children will be reading these books.
In January, the Wallace students continued to ask family members, friends, and neighbors to donate books.
Their last calculated total was 1,345 books!
The fifth grade students are very excited and pleased with the numbers of books they have received. They appreciate everyone who helped support their cause.
