GVFD recaps 2011 at banquet

Members and honorary members of the Grant Volunteer Fire Department and Perkins County Ambulance, along with their spouses, enjoyed dinner and a review of 2011 at the fire hall on April 14.
Nearly 40 enjoyed a meal, presentation of awards and a video.
Total responses for the year were presented by Fire Chief Don Softley and the service awards, including a few light-hearted gag awards were presented by President Bryan Kroeker.
Total calls for 2011 numbered 171 which included 37 fire calls, 120 ambulance calls, three civil defense calls, and 11 for Flight for Life.
October proved to be the busiest month with 23 calls. The busiest time of day was 9 a.m., and the busiest days of the week were Thursday and Friday.
Responding to mutual aid dispatch made for the most fire calls with 15 responses. Medical emergencies (33), followed by long distance transfers (31) and trauma (18) were highest on the list of ambulance calls.
