Legion auxiliary holds April meeting at Westview
The Grant Auxiliary met April 10 at Westview with nine members and five officers present. President Loretta opened the meeting with an opening prayer by Chaplain Clem, the flag salute and Preamble.
The minutes of the two previous meetings were read by Secretary Jean and approved.
President Loretta read a letter on the girls and boys state orienatation to be held tApril 15 at Hershey. She, Clem and Tobe Hansen plan to attend. The unit paid for three girls to go but only two will attend due to the death of one girl.
The district convention held at Wallace held an auction that netted $1,002 to be given to the Scottsbluff veteran’s home. They also raised $96.50 from the seed march.
Our new district president is Crystal VerHagan; vice -president is Pat Heinemann and secretary-treasurer is Dona Owings.
Treasurer Trudy gave her report on the income and expenses and she reported on the account, it has done very well for us since we opened it in 1996.
Membership is now 62 with one new member and one member’s death. There are seven life members and four members who have not paid 2012 dues. Dorothy Meyer made a motion to pay dues for two long term members, Ella Mae DeLancey and Ramona Terwilliger, as they are not well. Motion seconded and carried. The district is in sixth place for membership.
Jean Cochran presented the program on various subjects and President Loretta closed the meeeting with a closing prayer by Chaplain Clem. The next meeting will be at the home of Lucille Drzewiscki on May 8 with hostesses Lucille, Dolores Sides and Trudy Hundhausen. A delicious lunch was served by Loretta and Reenie Mercier.
