Deadlines approach as year ends
By Rita Wallin
Grant FSA Office
Well, it has been our first week without a County Executive Director (CED). Deb Hutsell is serving as acting CED until we are approved to hire. (And may we add she is doing a darn good job!) Mary (Karash) is hopefully enjoying her retirement while we continue on to serve area farmers and ranchers. We appreciate your patience during this time of change and encourage setting up appointments so we can better serve you.
County Committee elections were held for LAA 1 and Ashley Colglazier was re-elected to serve three years.
Price Support Loans-If you would like to obtain a commodity loan before the end of the year, please let our office know well in advance. Due to our current staffing issues and the loan making process, we must allow ample time for lien searches, lien wavers, etc., and it will take a few days for the funds to be deposited into the borrower’s account.
DCP Sign-Up begins Jan. 23, 2012 and ends June 1, 2012. Please call to set up an appointment.
We are currently taking wheat acreage reports. Please call for an appointment, or if you would like to have your crop insurance agent fax us your acres, or drop off your information, we can get it entered into our system and then call you to come in, go over the report, and sign it. This will save us all time!
SURE Sign-Up for 2010 Continues. If you had a 50 percent loss on your entire farm for 2010, please call the office and we will run the SURE workbook process to see if you qualify. If you are unsure whether you had a 50 percent loss but would like us to run your workbook to see if you would qualify, give us a call and we’ll be happy to take a look and see if you qualify.
As always, if you have any questions on any of the programs we administer, please feel free to stop in or call for more information. We are here to administer farm programs to farmers and ranchers and it is our job to help you understand them.
