Hite among Wesleyan players honored PDF Print E-mail

Nebraska Wesleyan volleyball placed four players on the Association of Division III Independents (AD3I) All-Independent volleyball team that was recently announced.  Four NWU players were named to the All-AD3I teams with Cody Long and Caitlin Anderson named to AD3I First-Team, and Mackenzie Hite and Brittnie Kreikemeier selected to the Second-Team.
Long, a freshman outside hitter from Hebron, Neb., led the team with 244 kills on the season averaging 2.84 kills per set.  She also recorded 237 digs to rank third on the team in that category.
Anderson, a sophomore setter from Plattsmouth earns All-AD3I First-Team honors for the second consecutive season.  She was also the AD3I Rookie-of-the-Year in 2010. Anderson was named the AD3I Player-of-the-Week three times this season as the Prairie Wolves starting setter.
She averaged 8.80 assists per game and was second on the team with 282 digs.  She recorded 16 double-doubles on the season.
Hite was named to the AD3I second team as a libero.  The sophomore from Grant led the team with 439 digs averaging 4.35 digs per game.  Against NCAA III competition, Hite was named to the All-Tournament team in all three tournaments the Prairie Wolves played in.
Kreikemeier was selected to the AD3I Second-Team as an outside hitter.  The Dodge native was second on the team in kills (211), averaging 2.48 kills per set.
Nebraska Wesleyan finished the 2011 season with a 16-12 overall record.
The All-Independent volleyball teams were selected by the coaches from the Association of Division III Independent member schools. The Association of Division III Independents consists of 11 DIII independent institutions that have joined together to recognize student-athletes at independent institutions, and to provide exempted postseason championship competition.
