Friday night, the Wallace  Wildcats played host to the Maywood Tigers.
In the first quarter it appeared that the ladies were ready to battle, outscoring their opponents 21 to 17.  The second quarter, however, was all Tigers.  The Lady Cats appeared flat, and frustrated, and they headed into the locker room at the half, trailing 25 to 38.
The third quarter saw the Wildcats with determination, but the Tigers were relentless. As the buzzer sounded at the end of the third quarter, the Wildcats still trailed 40 to 53.
In the fourth quarter, however, the Wildcats began to really build some momentum, outscoring a now frustrated Tiger team.  With just seconds to go the game was tied with a two-point shot from senior Brooke Hochstetler, who also managed to draw the foul.
Unfortunately, a miscommunication from the bench, resulted in a technical, and Katarina Foster, a senior from Maywood, scored the last point of the game for the Tigers.
The game ended after a remarkable comeback with the Wildcats trailing by just one, 64 to 65.
Offensively, junior Chelsea Sowle and freshman Christina Daniels led the Cats each with 17 points (one free throw), followed by senior Brooke Hochstetler with 10 points. Senior Emily Hasenauer had eight points, senior Danica Messersmith had five points (one free throw), junior Anna Griffiths had five points (one from the field), and senior Kelsey Hubbard had two points.
Leading the team with offensive rebounds were Sowle (six), Hochstetler (four), Daniels (three), D. Messersmith (two), Hasenauer (two), sophomore Sara Hubbard (two), and Griffiths (one).
Leading the team with assists were D. Messersmith (three), Hochstetler (two), Hasenauer (two), K. Hubbard (two), Sowle (one), Griffiths (one), and Daniels (one).
Defensively, Hochstetler led the Cats with seven rebounds, three blocks, and one steal, followed closely by Sowle with six rebounds, one block, and one steal.
Daniels had three rebounds, one block, and two steals, Hasenauer and Griffiths each had one rebound and two steals, S. Hubbard had two rebounds, K. Hubbard and D. Messersmith each had one rebound.
