Mealtime Makeovers...Family recipe secrets are best PDF Print E-mail

Some of my favorite recipes are those that I have had given to me from my closest friends. Last weekend some of my best girls and I went out for some fire grilled pizza and, of course, our discussion quickly led to desserts. Shelby started talking about a meal she had taken to the field that day which included a chocolate pudding cake. Our mouths were watering at the thought!
After much begging (not really) the secrets to this dessert were divulged and now I have another exciting recipe to share with you all. Shelby told me that this recipe has been in her family for years and that she changed it a little over the years, but it still is just as easy and just as delightful. I know I can’t wait to put this on my dinner table.

Chocolate Pudding Cake

1/4 cup cocoa
1 cup packed brown sugar
2 cups water
2 cups mini marshmallows
1 milk chocolate cake mix
whipped topping
Place cocoa and packed brown sugar in the bottom of a 9x13 inch pan. Add 2 cups water and gently mix. Place the marshmallows over top of the cocoa/water mixture.
Prepare cake mix as directed on the box and spoon over top of the marshmallows in the pan. Do not pour in pan, only spoon in to avoid separation of the marshmallows.
Bake as directed on the cake mix box. Cool slightly and top with whipped topping.
