Debate continues on selling ground PDF Print E-mail

In 2007, the City of Grant purchased ground southeast of town where the city’s sewer line is located and for potential economic development ground—the city is now looking into selling the farm ground.
Several factors are involved. The first decision to be made is whether the city should continue to own the ground, continue to have an easement on it where the sewer line runs through, or sell the ground.
Steps to be taken in addition to the above decision include getting the ground surveyed, obtaining permission from the economic development committee to sell, passing a resolution and determining what method to use in the sale process, then passing an ordinance.
Several things need to fall into place before the sale of the ground, said City Superintendent Tyson McGreer, who will continue to gather background information as well as pursue meeting with the economic development committee and see where they stand on selling.
