Imperial native opens chiropractic service in Grant
By Jan Rahn
A chiropractic service is now available in Grant. Calvin Weiss, D.C. is taking care of patients and clients at 115 West 3rd in the First Insight Eyecare building.
Eager to meet new people and broaden his clientele, the Imperial native works two-and-a-half days a week at the Grant site where he has been seeing patients with back pain and delivering wellness care since mid-October.
Weiss received a Bachelor of Science degree at San Marcus, Texas and his doctorate at Palmer Chiropractic College in Davenport, Iowa. He received acupuncture certification in Kansas City.
Weiss did a residency with a sports medicine doctor in Denver then spent six months working there as an associate. He has had a solo practice in Imperial for three years.
Although he misses the mountains of Colorado, the single sports-minded 32-year-old laughed about the hunting being better in Nebraska. Fishing, snowboarding, mountain biking and kayaking are other interests he enjoys, along with his rottweiler Zeus. “He’s like my kid!” laughed Weiss.
Other interests include and activities include being the president of the Imperial Jaycees. He also used to play softball and was on the volunteer fire department prior to moving to the country.
Described as being an exception to medical practice, chiropractic has a distinct philosophy, a distinct science and a distinct art of how health and healing are approached in patient care.
Although most people seek chiropractic care when they are suffering with back problems, in working together, both chiropractic and medicine add to the dimension of patient care. While medicine is sick care, chiropractic is a proactive approach to staying healthy with nutrition, exercise and lifestyle choices.
It’s a unique and critical component of healthy living and a part of the entire wellness revolution.
