Readers rewarded at roller rink PDF Print E-mail

Students at Perkins County  Elementary School have found that their efforts in reading have paid off in a fun way, with accelerated reading points earning them free passes to the skating rink.
Third, fourth and fifth graders spend a portion of each day reading books, then are awarded points when they complete a test covering the book’s material.
The students get together on Fridays to encourage each other and share their progress.
Five points will earn a student’s name on the Accelerated Reader’s “Wall of Fame.” The wall was created to celebrate the importance of reading, and recognize the accomplishments of the students.
As an added bonus, Robin Clement, owner of Six Aces Roller Rink in Grant, awards each student a free pass to the skating rink when they earn their first 25 points.
