Wildcats win over Wauneta PDF Print E-mail

The Wallace Wildcats played host to the Broncos of Wauneta-Palisade on Tuesday, Oct. 25. The Lady Cats won the match in straight sets, 25-18, 25-16, and 25-14.
When asked about the game, Coach Rohde said, “We played well when we needed to.” He added, “ We passed the ball very well, and that helps every part of our game.”
Leading the team offensively against Wauneta-Palisade was Sara Hubbard with 14 points (one ace), followed closely by Chelsea Sowle with 10 points (three aces). Brooke Hochstetler (one ace) had seven points, Katelyn Melton (one ace) had five points, Anna Griffiths had four  points, and Emily Hasenauer had two points. Leading the team with set assists was Hasenauer with 10, followed by Griffiths with seven, and Morgan Messersmith with one.
Defensively, Hochstetler led the team with 12 kills and one  block, followed by Melton with eight kills and one block. Sowle had five kills and two blocks, Griffiths had two kills, and Hubbard had one kill.
The Lady Cats began their battle for a state bid at Grant on Monday, Oct. 31. The Lady Cats were set to play the winners of the Maywood/Medicine Valley game. Results will appear in next week’s issue.
