Johanns internship application deadline approaching PDF Print E-mail

U.S. Sen. Mike Johanns (R-Neb.) is currently accepting internship applications for his Nebraska and Washington, D.C. offices for the spring 2012 session, which will run from January to May of next year.
The application deadline for the spring semester is Oct.14 for the Washington, D.C. office and Oct. 29  for Nebraska offices. Those interested in applying should visit www.johanns.senate.gov and click on “Internship Opportunities.”
In the Washington office, intern responsibilities may include:
• Tracking legislation;
• Researching legislative issues;
• Attending legislative hearings;
• Guiding tours of the Capitol and Congressional buildings for constituents;
• Assisting with newspaper clippings and providing brief synopses of articles; and
• Opening and sorting mail, answering phones and general administrative support.
In the Nebraska offices, intern responsibilities may include:
• Researching constituent inquiries and requests;
• Assisting staff with trip preparation for Senator Johanns’ Nebraska travel;
• Providing support for special projects;
• Assisting with newspaper clippings and providing brief synopses of articles; and
• Opening and sorting mail, answering phones and general administrative support.
