Sept. 12-18 is Lifeline Awareness Week PDF Print E-mail

Stay connected with telephone assistance.

On Sept. 13 Governor Dave Heineman will sign a proclamation declaring the week of September 12-18 as Nebraska Lifeline Awareness Week. The Nebraska Public Service Commission administers the program.
The proclamation brings attention to the national Lifeline/Link-Up phone assistance program. Lifeline provides a monthly credit of $10.00 to $13.50 off monthly service for one landline or wireless phone to a qualified household.
Link-Up provides a one time connection fee credit of 50 percent up to $30.00. This valuable program helps those eligible to obtain phone service and access to emergency services.
Nebraskans seeking Lifeline/Link-Up assistance must be participating in one of the following programs offered through these agencies:
• Department of Health and Human Services: Medicaid, Food Stamps; Low-Income Home, Energy Assistance (LIHEAP) and Kids Connection (SAM, MAC, EMAC)
• Social Security Administration: Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
• Federal Housing Administration: Federal Public Housing Assistance
Anyone with questions should call the office and ask for the Nebraska Telephone Assistance Program (NTAP) at 402-471-3101 or toll free 800-526-0017.
