Mealtime Makeovers...Can’t beat birthdays PDF Print E-mail

Our little boy celebrated his 5th birthday. Each year for the kids’ birthdays we have a family party and I let them pick what they want for cake. Alexa has had everything from brownie volcanos to Little Mermaid cakes. Landon has had John Deere tractor cakes for years, however, this year he wanted to go with a Cars 2 theme! Finally something other than tractors! I thought for sure he would choose to have a Cop party since Officer Kip Bradley is his best friend. I was also excited because this year I was able to make my own cake instead of calling upon Pankonin’s Bakery.
This recipe was shared with me by a Noyes family friend and since the day I heard it I was dying to make it! The perfect occasion arose. We had a big party this year with family and friends, and this cake was the first thing on the menu! Make it a hit at your next party too!

Straight to the waist cake

1 pkg. chocolate cake mix
1 pkg. cream cheese
2/3 cup sugar
1 egg
1 pkg. Oreo cookies
Grease the bottom of a 9x13 inch cake pan. Prepare cake mix as directed on the box. Pour half of the cake batter into the greased cake pan.
Meanwhile, beat together cream cheese, egg and sugar in a small bowl. Then, dollop onto the cake batter.
Cover the batter and cream cheese mixture with a layer of Oreo cookies. Then top with the remaining batter.
Bake at 350°F for 30-35 minutes. Let cool and flip upside down onto serving platter to frost and decorate as you please.
