Those gathering across the Highline to honor the war dead were greeted with a sunny, calm morning Monday, creating an ambience of peace amongst the gravestones laden with colorful wreaths and flags.

Rev Rich Savage spoke to those gathered in Fairview Cemetery near Grant about the significance of the day—remembering loved ones.

Flags around the cemeteries hung straight while memorial services were delivered which included presentation by color guards, speeches at some gatherings, gun salutes and playing of Taps.
