4-H and FFA major part of the state fair PDF Print E-mail

At the Nebraska State Fair board committee meetings recently, board members were made aware that there is some confusion throughout the state with regard to the status of the future of 4-H and FFA at the Nebraska State Fair. Since then, letters to the editor have
surfaced with regard to the same issue.
Bill Angell, Nebraska State Fair livestock superintendent said, “I can assure everyone that the Nebraska State Fair is committed to showcasing the talents of 4-H and FFA youth from throughout Nebraska.”
Speaking on behalf of the Nebraska State Fair board of directors, board chair Jana Kruger said, “We do not intend to become a youth show for livestock. The 4-H and FFA programs are an integral part of our continued success. Both programs are strong and growing–both are essential ingredients in our effort to showcase agriculture in Nebraska.”
The Nebraska State Fair runs from Aug. 25 through Sept. 6 at Fonner Park in Grand Island.
