Charges filed against former Keith County attorney and wife PDF Print E-mail

Following a three-month investigation by the Nebraska State Patrol, former Keith County Attorney Blake Edwards and his wife, Shirley, were arrested for alleged embezzlement of nearly $18,000 from the Keith County Diversion Program.
On Jan. 24 the couple went to the jail in Ogallala and were arrested by the state patrol.
Each of them posted bond at 10 percent of $1,500 and had a court date of Jan. 31 to be arraigned in Keith County Court on felony charges.
John Blake Edwards, 48, is charged with three counts of alleged theft by unlawful taking, two of them being Class II felonies and one as a Class IV felony.
His 45-year-old wife Shirley Edwards was charged with two counts of alleged theft by unlawful taking, one a Class III felony and the other a Class IV felony.  
Edwards had served as Keith County attorney from January 2007 until the end of last year. He is replaced by Keith County Attorney Randy Fair who was elected in November and took office in January.
