|Snow cleared highways are not for snow dumping|
When a highway or major roadway has been cleared of snow, businesses and residents should not dump snow from driveways and parking lots onto the driving surface.
Dumping snow onto a cleared highway may become hazardous to drivers not expecting a patch of snow. Snow on a cleared highway will get packed down by vehicles and can create a risk to oncoming traffic.
Remember to pile snow where it won’t be a sight obstacle, nor a driving or pedestrian hazard. Obstructing a public road or impairing the maintenance, construction, or pass ability of a public road is against the law (Statute 39-301).
This is a winter roads safety reminder from the Nebraska Department of Roads.
