|Denver woman to speak at Magnificat brunch|
Saturday, Jan. 8 at Valentino’s, Ogallala
Kathy McGovern, a popular educator on many areas of Catholicism, will be the featured speaker at the next Magnificat Brunch on Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011, in Ogallala. The Brunch, scheduled for 9 a.m. (MT) will be at Valentino’s, 55 East River Road in Ogallala (just off the I-80 Exit).
Involved in many areas of Catholic ministry for her entire life, Kathy was a part of the popular music group, EKKLESIA (composers of Seed, Scattered and Sown), for 25 years. She is also the composer of the popular Christmas hymn, “Mary Had A Baby.”
Kathy earned Master’s Degrees in both liturgical studies and sacred scripture. A popular educator on many areas of Catholicism, Kathy has used her talents in liturgy and scripture to teach in the renowned Denver Catholic Biblical School for 17 years.
On a more personal level, Kathy has survived ovarian cancer and also lives with chronic myelogenous leukemia. Kathy says these challenges have given her a depth of gratitude that inspires her work.
Kathy’s latest passion is her weekly scripture column which is published online and in parish bulletins. Online, one can go to www.thestoryandyou.com to read her reflections on the Sunday Scriptures. These reflections have been published over the past two years and Kathy says readers are encouraged to jump in on the conversations, which are going on with Catholics around the country!
In the Ogallala area, those interested in registering can sign up at either Ben Franklin Craft Store or Silver Thimble Sewing Center. Both stores are on North Spruce Street. The registration deadline is Monday, Jan. 3, 2011.
