Local students graduate from UNL

 

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln granted degrees to more than 1,400 students at commencement exercises Dec. 17 and 18 in separate ceremonies for baccalaureate, postgraduate and law degrees

NASA astronaut Clayton Anderson delivered the address to the baccalaureate degree recipients.

Grant: Evan Michael Carlson, Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources, B.S. in mechanized systems management; Nancy Lee Salsman, Graduate College, educational specialist.

Madrid: Sean James Hanson, Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources, B.S. in agronomy.

 

Gorgen graduates cum laude

 

Terry Kroeger, president and CEO of the Omaha World-Herald Co. and publisher of the “Omaha World-Herald,” gave the winter commencement address at the University of Nebraska at Kearney on Friday, Dec. 17.

Talon Gorgen of Grant was among the 400 graduates at the ceremony held in the UNK Health and Sports Center. Gorgen graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelors Degree in business administration comp.

After Kroeger’s address, UNK Chancellor Doug Kristensen presented the prestigious Leland Holdt/Security Mutual Life Distinguished Faculty Award. Chancellor Kristensen also extended a welcome, followed by greetings from Kent Schroeder of Kearney on behalf of the University of Nebraska Board of Regents. University of Nebraska President James Milliken also extended greetings.

Special music for the ceremonies was provided by The Choraleers under the direction of Dr. David Bauer, conductor and UNK professor of music.
