|Grant quilt guild and Meadowlark Gallery featured in state magazine|
Grant’s Quilted Leaf Quilt Guild and the Perkins County Area Arts Council’s Meadowlark Gallery are featured in the November/December 2010 issue of Nebraska Life magazine.
In the full-page story entitled, “Keeping Busy (and Warm) in Grant,” writer Alan Bartels introduces readers to the quilt guild comprised of 24 members who have been having fun and contributing to the community through quilting for nearly two decades. Bartels writes about some of the projects the guild stitches up, including an annual mystery quilt and a recent patriotic quilt that was presented to a wounded Nebraska veteran. For the past four years, the guild has also been featured with an annual quilt show at Grant’s Meadowlark Gallery.
This year’s gallery quilt show featured “tea cup quilts,” a collection of tea-cup themed creations by Quilted Leaf members. Being held simultaneously with the quilt exhibit, Bartels writes, is the “Painted Chair Project,” a creative fundraiser for the arts council. Twenty-five chairs, each uniquely painted by area artists, were up for sale by silent auction.
