|Wallace man winner of Husker football tickets|
Jarrod Nielson of Wallace was the lucky winner of two Husker/C.U. football tickets last Thursday during the Chamber Christmas Open House in Grant.
The raffle was sponsored by the Grant United Methodist Mexico Mission team as a fundraiser to support the Jan. 21trip to Mexico. Ron and Mary Kent of Adams Lumber Company in Grant donated the tickets. The proceeds totaled $623. The team is having other fundraisers until they leave.
The Kents are two of 11 Grant Methodists going on the trip. Other local members are Ron and Gloria Patrick (team leaders), Mike and Rita Long, Darren and Shannon Jensen, Jim Lampmann, Jeanie Daiss, and Karla Dudden.
Also on the team are two Methodists from Wallace, Larry and Sharla Unruh; and three from Hastings, George Yerger, Roger and Sharon Selley. Yerger is the former PCHS principal and Selley is a former ISU classmate of Ron Patrick.
Nielson was excited to win the drawing. He said that son Taylor, 15, was more excited than he was. The plan at this time is for Jarrod and Taylor to take in the game while his wife, Kellee, and daughter, Bailee, 11, spend time in Imperial with her parents.
The Nielsons have lived near Wallace for one year. Prior to that, Jarrod grew up in the Nebraska Sandhills, they spent a few years in Colorado, and are now settled at Wallace. They are involved in a cow/calf ranching operation, and Jarrod also is a contractor. He builds, renovates and repairs houses and other structures.
Nielson said that even though he lived in Colorado, he is a graduate of UNL and a devoted Husker fan.
