A Wallace man is in critical condition and three others arrested following a shooting early Sunday morning.
According to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department, the shooting was the result of an argument over a bet payoff.
The victim, Leopoldo Apodaca Munoz, 23, and Jose Alanzo Sosa Florez, 28, placed a bet on a televised boxing match. They met at the Wallace roping arena to settle the bet.
According to the sheriff department’s press release, Munoz had along a shotgun to protect himself. Florez took two friends armed with .22 caliber rifles.
Accompanying Florez were brothers, 29-year-old Ezequiel Rodriguez Serrano and 21-year-old Sergio Rodriguez Serrano, both of Wellfleet.
Once at the arena, Munoz and Florez argued. Florez took the gun away from Munoz and shot him in the lower abdomen with a 12-gauge shotgun shell.
Munoz was airlifted to Good Samaritan in Kearney and then to an Omaha hospital with a massive abdomen wound.
A manhunt for Florez ensued. He, along with the Serrano brothers, were located and arrested by Sunday evening, and each has been charged in the shooting.
Florez was charged with first degree assault with a weapon and use of a firearm to commit a felony. Each of the Serrano brothers was charged with terroristic threats, use of a firearm to commit a felony and accessory after the fact.
Lincoln County Judge Kent Turnbull set bond of $1,000,000 for Florez and $500,000 for each of the Serrano brothers.
