Mealtime Makeovers...It’s a ramen review PDF Print E-mail

Oh how we must love ramen noodles. Despite the stigma that Ramen noodles carry, such as the bachelor’s dinner or the college kids meal, they really are quite tasty. For the price, I don’t really know how one would complain too much about them, unless they became a staple in your meal patterns.

One small package of ramen noodles can go a long way to feed a family if you find the right additives. After some searching, I have found a few meals that are inexpensive and appetizing, yet very versatile and filling as well.

The good thing about the following recipes is that you can easily make them your own. You can simply add some fresh peppers or tomatoes to top off your meal. Alter them to your favorite flavor. You can do it, just be creative!


Quick Chicken Lo Mein


1 Tbsp canola oil

1 Tbsp soy sauce

1 pkg Ramen noodles, prepared

1 lb chicken breasts cut into strips

3/4 - 2 cups of your favorite vegetables

Place canola oil and soy sauce in a frying pan. Heat, then add chicken breast strips and brown. Add 3/4 cup each of vegetables– peas, green beans, corn, chopped peppers or chopped carrots, your choice. Cook until vegetables are tender. Stir in boiled ramen noodles and serve.


Easy Delicious Breakfast


Boil ramen noodles and one beaten egg for three minutes. Drain all but 1 tablespoon water. Stir in seasoning packet, 1 cup shredded cheese, a dash of hot sauce if desired. Wrap flavored noodles in warm tortillas for breakfast burritos.


Kitchen Tip: Did you know that you can clean the gunk out of a vase by filling the vase with water and adding 1 tablet of Polident denture cleanser? Let soak and rinse.
