|Former Elsie resident inducted into hall of fame|
Phelps County Sheriff Thomas Nutt was inducted into the Nebraska Law Enforcement Hall of Fame for outstanding achievements and years of dedicated service as a law enforcement officer in Nebraska.
He was nominated by Sheriff Kevin Stukenholtz of Saunders County and presented the award at the NSA/POAN 2010 Conference Awards Banquet in Kearney at the Ramada Inn.
Sheriff Nutt, an Elsie High School graduate, will be completing 40 years of dedicated law enforcement to the State of Nebraska this December.
He started his career in 1971 with the Nebraska State Patrol, retiring after 25 years and was elected sheriff of Phelps County Jan. 7, 1999.
He chose not to run for another term as Phelps County Sheriff and instead is running for the Phelps County Board of Supervisors in November.
Nutt has relatives who still live in the Elsie-Dickens area.
