|PC High School senior volunteering at NRCS office|
Darren Wilson, a Perkins County High School senior, is a new volunteer at the Grant Field Office of the Natural Resources Conservation Service. Wilson is at the NRCS office for one-and-a-half hours each day during the work-study time set aside by the school.
He is listing windbreak projects in Perkins County by legal description and year planted. The office plans to get pictures of windbreaks that are new, 5-year, 10-year, 15-year, 20-years old to show a side-by-side comparison.
He has also accompanied Caleb Caton, SCT and Claudia Stevenson, resource conservationist, to the field on a few wetland projects, so he is learning to identify wetland plants.
