|Both tax asking and general fund levy down in newly adopted Perkins County Schools budget|
By Jan Rahn
With a decrease in tax asking and general fund levy, the Perkins County Board of Education has adopted a 2010-11 fiscal year budget in the amount of $8.5 million—down from the previous budget of $8.8 in 2009-10.
The new budget has approximately $800,000 less in revenue due to state aid decreases, expiration of stimulus money, and a decreased tax request.
Thus, the overall 2010-11 budget of $8,510,443 is $300,000 less than the previous year’s budget.
The 2010-2011 General Fund levy will be 0.753667 and the Special Building Fund levy will be .086868. This is a nearly .20 decrease in the general fund levy and an increase of just over .05 in the building fund levy.
The overall levy of 0.84035 is an overall levy decrease of approximately .145.
The total tax asking for the 2010-2011 school year is $4,844,625 compared to $4,969,881 last year. This is a decrease of just over $125,000.
