|New car wash and laundromat opening east of Grant|
By Jan Rahn
Opening in October, Denton Mastre’s new “Soap Box” car and truck wash and laundromat will provide one-stop cleanup just east of Grant along Highway 23.
The busy businessman’s venture is his fourth. He currently owns Dynamic Sales & Service, Whispering Pines greenhouse which is adjacent to the new car wash; and serves as plant manager for the new Prairie Nutrition company.
Partnering the car wash/laundromat is Troy Friesen who helped hatch the idea two or three years ago. He and wife Tricia have three children.
The building is up and finishing touches are being done on the inside.
The car wash will feature one self serve bay, plus one outdoor self serve bay for trucks and tractors. There will not be a trailer cleanout area.
The indoor bay will feature both a brush and wand wash.
Also available will be a vacuum and tire air.
Operating with coin, bill changer and credit/debit cards, the service offers soap, wax, spot free rinse and tire wash.
The 30x50 outdoor concrete pad will have a wand for washing farm equipment and trucks. A second driveway will be constructed for easy access.
Mastre said the laundromat will initially provide two washers and two dryers, with potential for more appliances depending on customer demand.
Vending machines will be available on site.
Mastre will be assisted by his wife Sherry and 14-year-old daughter Ashley who will help with maintenance.
Three other children live in the Grant area, Travis and wife Tamara, Trent and wife Liz, and Shane and wife Deni. Daughter Alicia and husband Gerald Hostetler live in Madrid. The Mastres have four grandchildren.
