Fireworks show donors needed PDF Print E-mail

It’s time to think about the approaching Fourth of July holiday.

According to Fire Chief Don Softley, the fireworks have been ordered and the license applied for. Each year, the Grant Fire Department detonates the fireworks for the Chamber-sponsored all-day July 4th event.

Many activities are being planned for the day. Perkins County and surrounding areas are invited to gather and celebrate throughout the day, culminating with the annual fireworks display.

Softley said the show this year will be similar to that of two years ago—it will be longer, and there are additional 5-inch shells to fascinate the audience.

Donations are needed to cover the cost of the display. In the past, county residents have generously contributed to the show’s success, and they are again being asked for donations to help cover expense.

Accepting fireworks donations across the county are Elsie Commercial State Bank, Adams Bank in Madrid and Grant, Pinnacle Bank and Valley Bank, along with The Barber Pole, all in Grant.

Each week, the Tribune will list donors and the various shell sizes their contributions will buy: $10 and under—three inch shell; $11-$20—four inch shell; $21-$49—five inch shell; $50-$99—multi shot box; $100 and up—finalé.
