On Friday, May 7, the Wildcats traveled to Benkelman for the Dundy County/Stratton twilight track meet.  The weather was sunny, but cool and windy throughout the day.

The Wildcats had 11 personal bests at the meet, their last regular season action before the district meet on Wednesday, May 12.

Highlights of the meet included Sean May winning the 100, 200, and 400, and several big personal improvements.  Even though times were affected somewhat by the wind, many of the Wallace athletes competed very well.

Perkins County won the girls division with 180 points, Wallace was eighth with 25.  Dundy Co./Stratton won the boys division with 157.5 points, Wallace was sixth with 57.

The top eight places in each event were scored. Teams competing in the meet included:  Perkins Co., Dundy Co./Stratton, Chase Co., Rawlins Co.,  Kan., Cheylin, Kan., South Platte, Maywood, Hayes Center, Wauneta/Palisade, and Wallace.

Five of the Wildcats also represented Wallace at last week’s Best of the Midwest meet in Sutherland.

Qualifiers included Josi Hasenauer in the 3200, Sean May in the 400, and the  boys 400 meter relay team of May, Ryan Sowle, Lane Swedberg, and Shawn Christensen.

The next action for the Wildcats is at the D10 District meet on Wednesday, May 12 in Sutherland.
