|Public invited to help spruce up main street for Arbor Day|
In celebration of Arbor Day, which is officially the last Friday in April, the Grant Tree Board is planning an activity on Sunday, April 25, that is open to the public.
Plans include a pruning demonstration by Tree Board President Jon Forney, followed by a cleanup of the downtown trees in Grant.
A public Arbor Day activity helps Grant maintain its status as a “Tree City USA,” a designation given to the city for several years running.
During this year’s activity, Grant’s downtown trees will be weeded and mulched. Although spring is not the ideal time for pruning, branches that are broken will be attended to.
Businesses that have wooden borders around the trees are asked to have them repaired or disposed of at this time.
Interested persons are asked to meet at City Hall at 2 p.m. to participate in the cleanup.
