Celebrate National Library Week at the Hastings Memorial Library, April 11-17
It’s National Library Week, a time to celebrate the contributions of libraries, librarians and library workers in schools, campuses and communities nationwide.
With everything from books, magazines, videos, DVDs, and audio books as well as free Internet access and Wi-Fi access, the library has everything needed to “Spring into Reading!”
To celebrate National Library Week, the Hastings Memorial Library in Grant will be giving away bookmarks, pencils, and more throughout the week.
Patrons can also enter a drawing for several library gift bags filled with spring garden-themed library related goodies.
Stop in throughout the week for treats and refreshments each day as well.
“Libraries are the heart of every community and our library helps our community thrive,” said Library Director Robin Quinn. “At our library, people of all backgrounds come together for community meetings, programs, to do research with the assistance of a trained professional, to get help finding a job or to find homework help.
“National Library Week is a perfect time to visit us here at the library and see all of the things we have to offer,” added Quinn. “I would recommend checking out our new adult paperback section and our expanding collection of videos and DVDs. We have new materials for all ages and interests arriving at the library every week so you are almost guaranteed to find something different each time you visit.”
Throughout National Library week and continuing the entire month of April, the library is observing amnesty month.
This means that any patrons with overdue materials may return them to the library and all fines will be waived.
First sponsored in 1958, National Library Week is a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association (ALA) and libraries across the country each April.
