|Wallace Wildcats fall to Storm in regular season finale|
By Travis McConnell
Good three point shooting and excellent free throw shooting by the Creek Valley Storm were the difference Friday night when the Wallace Wildcats traveled to Chappell for their final regular season game of the year.
Justin Huff, Jonathan Houser and Sam Behrends each hit one three pointer in the first and second quarters to propel the Storm to a 67-56 victory. For the game, the Storm outscored the Wildcats 21-6 from behind the three point line.
Trailing 17-12 at the end of the first quarter, the Wildcats used the shooting of Lane Swedberg to keep the game close at halftime. Swedberg hit two threes of his own in the second quarter and the Wildcats only trailed 31-24 at halftime.
Creek Valley’s full court man-to-man defense in the third quarter led to easy offensive opportunities as the Storm outscored the Wildcats 23-15 in the third quarter to extend their lead to 54-39.
Shawn Christensen scored eight of his game high 20 points in the third quarter to keep the Wildcats in the game.
