|H1N1 death reported to DHHS|
The Douglas County Health Department reported an H1N1 death to the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS).
The Douglas County man was in his 30s and had underlying health conditions. Because of state statutes, the name and other details about the person can’t be released.
“This is a sad reminder that H1N1 can be a very serious illness, and I offer my condolences to the family,” said Dr. Joann Schaefer, Chief Medical Officer for DHHS.
“Although we’re not seeing a lot of flu activity right now, the traditional flu season is far from over. Flu viruses still have the potential to pick up the pace,” she said.
So far, there have been a total of 15 H1N1 flu deaths reported in the state.
DHHS will continue to track deaths from H1N1.
