PCHS speakers finish second and third at area meets PDF Print E-mail

The last two Saturdays have found the PCHS speech team competing at their home invitational and at the Sutherland Sailor Invite.  

Students from 19 schools participated at the PCHS meet and those from 14 schools attended the Sutherland contest. Midpoint through the season, PCHS finished second at home and third at Sutherland.

While the entire team was able to perform at home, due to conflicts with basketball, the ACT, and a student missionary trip to Jamaica, only seven contestants travelled to Sutherland.

Placings and events for the PCHS contest included:

Informative–Kristin Beck, 3rd, Elisa Carlson,7th; 

Persuasive–Tori Osler, 2nd, Michi Prante, Matisyn Humphrey; 

Extemporaneous–Amara Meyer, Tori Osler, Trevor Lee; 

Entertainment–Cole Whalen, Shania Metcalf, Elliot Carlson;

Poetry–Kalyn Hanson, 3rd;

Humorous Prose–Ashley Kemling, 4th,  Lacey Jensen, Top Novice, Mindee Hausman, Debbie Dahlkoetter; 

Serious Prose–(PCHS) Kalyn Hanson, 1st, Ashley Kemling, 4th,  Stephanie Reichert; 

Duet Acting–Erik Hagan and Mackenzie Hite, 3rd, Calla Mailand and Robyn Krause, 7th; 

Oral Interpretation of Drama–Kye Kurkowski, Nick Turner, Jeremy Hagan, Erik Hagan, and Josh

Sexson, 2nd; Michael York, Mackenzie Hite, Brooke Poppe, Amara

Meyer, and Elisa Carlson, 4th.

Placings and events for the Sutherland Sailors Invite contest included:

Poetry–Calla Mailand, 1st;

Serious Prose–Ashley Kemling, 2nd, Calla Mailand, 5th, Stephanie Reichert; 

Duet Acting–Lacey Jensen and Rachel Patrick, 2nd, Tori Osler and Ashley Kemling, 6th

Top team honors at the PCHS Invite went to Ogallala, while Wallace came in first at Sutherland, followed by the speakers from Paxton.

This coming Saturday will find the team at the North Platte High School Blue and Gold Invitational.
