Plainsmen medal at SPVA PDF Print E-mail

Perkins County hosted the South Platte Valley Association wrestling tournament on Thursday, Feb. 11 with six conference teams attending.

Overall, North Platte St. Pat’s took first place in the dual format tournament with a 5-0 record. Winning four out of five was Maxwell, who finished second. Third place went to Hershey with a 3-2 record. Sutherland was fourth, winning two of five and Chase County fifth with a 1-4 record. Perkins County finished sixth, 0-5.

Individually, several Plainsmen fared well, Kyle Schulze finished in first place in the 130 lb. division, winning all five matches. He was followed by Aksel Wiseman of Hershey and Michael May of Chase County in second and third.

Austin Thelander took the third place spot in the 103 lb. division, following first place Drew Riggs of North Platte St. Pat’s and second Robert Stricklan of Maxwell.

Rassel Hausman was also third, in the 119 lb. weight class. He followed Makay Beck of Hershey in first place and second place Chris Dilley of North Platte St. Pat’s.

Also finishing in third place was John Prante in the 171 lb. division. Trey Kerner of Sutherland was first and Connor Norton of Maxwell second in that class.

Third place in the 189 lb. division was Plainsman Markus Wehrmann. First place went to Nathan Gamble of Maxwell and second to Ryan Klaasmeyer of Hershey.
