It’s almost Girl Scout cookie season!

Girl Scouts Spirit of Nebraska and Union Pacific are hosting Cookie Train events in six Nebraska cities Monday, Jan. 4 to celebrate the launch of the 2010 cookie program.

These colorfully “cookietastic” Cookie Trains will consist of hundreds of mini train cars uniquely designed and embellished by Girl Scouts from all around the state.

One such event will take place at the Golden Spike Tower and Visitor Center, North Platte from 4-5:30 p.m.

“The Cookie Train is a fun way to get people excited about our cookie program and showcase the creativity of Girl Scouts,” said Fran Marshall, Girl Scouts Spirit of Nebraska CEO. “It’s inspiring to see the different designs and even more remarkable to think how much these girls learn when they participate in the process.”

“After seeing the Cookie Train,” added Marshall jokingly, “it becomes apparent that Girl Scout power just might be one of America’s most important renewable resources.”

The Girl Scouts of Nebraska Council is the largest girl serving organization in the state with more than 24,000 girl and adult members.
