Students had to try out to be among the talented group of singers and dancers in swing choir at PCHS. Following are the students who made the cut.
Singing soprano will be Kalyn Hanson, Mackenzie Hite, Debbie Dahlkoetter, and Tori Osler. In the alto section are Elisa Carlson, Brooke Poppe, Krystal Gaar, Kristin Beck.
The guys that will be singing and dancing are as follows: John Prante, Taylor Boldt, Rassel Hausman and Quinton Hite will be the tenors.
Singing bass for the Swing Choir will be Erik Hagan, Kye Kurkowski, Jeremy Hagan and A J Hausman.
Twenty-two students auditioned and out of all of these participants 13 of them have returned from last year, when they performed at the Christmas and spring concerts, two different Valentine suppers, and the Perkins County Health Services Foundation annual supper. They also competed in the SPVA Conference music contest and the district music contest.
Their first performance is scheduled for Monday, Dec. 14.
They have been preparing for this upcoming performance by practicing every Tuesday and Thursday morning.
The students will be under the direction of Mrs. Judy Kurkowski and have this to say, “Although swing choir is a lot of work, we also have a lot of fun. It is an opportunity for the group to take a set of songs, mostly up-beat popular, jazz, or musical songs, and make a show of song and dance.”
