The upcoming weekend marks the final days of the 2014 Perkins County Fair.
A recap of the many events planned toward the end of the week follows:
Thursday, July 24
• 6 a.m.: annual free pancake feed hosted by the Perkins County Chamber. Come enjoy time with friends and enter the Chamber Bucks drawing.
• 8 a.m.: the 4-H swine, sheep, goat and poultry shows begin.
• 8 a.m.-noon: open class floral entries.
• 1 p.m.: 4-H rocket launch at the ball field.
1:30 p.m.: livestock judging contest/clinic.
• 5-10 p.m.: inflatable carnival—bounce free by bringing items to benefit the food pantry or animal shelter.
• 5-10 p.m.: rock climbing wall available.
• 7-10 p.m.: 4-H bingo is scheduled under the shelter.
• 7 p.m.: talent show and 4-H style review in the dance hall.
Friday, July 25
• 8 a.m.: 4-H beef show begins.
• 10 a.m.: Garden Club public tea in the exhibit building.
• 1 p.m.: livestock obstacle course.
• 2 p.m.: kids races/sidewalk chalk.
• 2 p.m.: livestock round robin sponsored by Aurora Coop.
• 3 p.m.: tractor pedal pull.
• 3 p.m.: mud volleyball
• 5-10 p.m.: inflatable carnival, all ages.
• 5-10 p.m.: rock climbing wall
• 5:30 p.m.: mutton bustin’.
• 7-10 p.m.: 4-H teens bingo.
• 7 p.m.: entertainment by the Tonic Sol-fa a capella quartet.
• 9 p.m.-midnight: youth dance.
Saturday July 26
• 7 a.m.: Fun Run—gather at Image Total Fitness to begin group run. No registration.
• 10 a.m.: parade to begin at the north end of Grant City Park. This year’s theme is “Mardi Gras.” Come to table on south side of park for entry number.
• 11 a.m.-1 p.m.: 4-H teens barbecue.
• 12:30 p.m.: antique tractor pull.
• 1:30 p.m.: 4-H award presentations.
• 1:45 p.m.: silent auction results.
• 2 p.m.: inflatable carnival opens.
• 3:45 p.m.: awards presentation by the fair board for the Good Neighbor and Grand Marshal.
• 4 p.m.: 4-H livestock sale begins.
• 4:30-5 p.m.: Farm Olympics and corn eating contest by FFA.
• 5 p.m.: rock climbing wall opens.
• 6 p.m.: annual derby hosted by Ride Rite Garage.
• 7-10 p.m.: 4-H teens bingo.
• 9 p.m.-1 a.m.: adult dance.
A beer garden will be available during the fair.
