Adams Bank & Trust experiences cyber attack; online and mobile banking still affected

In the early hours of Tuesday, May 16th, Adams Bank & Trust detected unusual activity indicative of a cybersecurity threat.

This threat was taken extremely seriously. To protect the bank’s customers and all of their personal financial information, the bank made the swift decision to lock down its bank servers. This allowed their IT department the time they needed to address the issue.

Adams Bank & Trust immediately engaged a team of highly skilled experts to complete a forensic analysis and conduct an investigation into this matter. There is no evidence that customer information was accessed.

The bank’s team has worked tirelessly since this began and has made tremendous progress. The bank alerted customers on their corporate Facebook page the morning of Monday, May 22nd that their servers had been restored.

As of noon on May 23rd, customers can contact Adams Bank & Trust in-branch or by phone to verify their account information such as balances and transaction activity that occurred through the morning of Monday, May 22nd. Their online and mobile banking systems remain unavailable. As soon as these systems are brought back online, the bank will provide an update on Facebook, as well as through all available notification systems.

The bank continues to express its sincere appreciation for the grace and understanding their customers have shown. All questions and inquiries should be directed to the bank’s customer service representatives at 1-800-422-3488 or your local bank branch.

According to bank representatives, by the time this edition of the paper is published additional updates should be available on their Facebook page.
